On December 3rd, 2007 our son, Michael, was placed in our arms. He was 14 months old and we were in Changsha, China. Three years and three days later, his sister, Kailey, joined our growing family in Guangzhou, China. Thanks to all of you that follow our journey.

A good morning but a rough night

I woke up this morning to sweet Michael kisses on my face. I turn to look at Kailey and she is awake and not crying. This morning she is skipping around the room playing happily. Not the reserved child we've seen so far.

Yesterday we could see the clinginess and grief starting to build. Both are good signs and part of the process but not always easy to deal with. By bed time she was fully grieving. It took an hour or so to get her down to sleep. She cried hard and would fall asleep but wake up and cry more, when I tried to lay her down. Finally she was down and asleep but the process was repeated at 4 and 5 am. This morning she is happy and we are headed to breakfast. Food - that will make her even happier.
