On December 3rd, 2007 our son, Michael, was placed in our arms. He was 14 months old and we were in Changsha, China. Three years and three days later, his sister, Kailey, joined our growing family in Guangzhou, China. Thanks to all of you that follow our journey.

Last day

Finding that jade pig for the mantel has turned out to be harder than expected. We missed the Jade market that our group went to in Beijing. Three years ago we had gone to one here in GZ, so that's what we had expected. Most of our group is gone so Ike agreed to take us to seek out our pig. (See the heading of this blog.) We went to a large shopping center - six floors, each is fairly small with tiny shops. We had about given up hope, when we found a store that carried jade objects. They had three sizes of pigs and we didn't know which size most closely matched the others we have so, of course, we bought two. Anyone need a jade pig?
The shopping center has a McDonald's, so that's where we had lunch. Yum. (Last night, at yet another crappy Lucy's dinner, Michael spontaneously said "Taco Bell".) McDonald's was mostly the same except that the happy meal comes with fries or corn. Ike had trouble ordering for us as he hates American food and was completely unfamiliar with the items. When David said he wanted cheese only, Ike thought that meant no beef.
We've finished up our shopping, including an additional suitcase, and are starting to pack. Hope the ice storm avoids Chicago and Louisville.
