On December 3rd, 2007 our son, Michael, was placed in our arms. He was 14 months old and we were in Changsha, China. Three years and three days later, his sister, Kailey, joined our growing family in Guangzhou, China. Thanks to all of you that follow our journey.

Kailey's first day

The day has gone as smoothly as could be expected. She's such a calm child. She came to us willingly and without complaint. We've got a few smiles throughout the day, but mostly she has sat quietly, just taking it all in. She eats a lot and went down for a nap easily. She seemed to enjoy coloring, watching a movie, flipping the pages of a book, slinky, and playing with the bracelets, that a shop owner gave her. She will hold anything and examine it. When she woke up from her nap, she cried for awhile. I'm sure she was surprised and scared to wake up in a new environment. After comforting didn't calm her, we turned on a movie. She watched it all without moving. She is so calm. Surely, her true personality hasn't come out yet, but it appears that she may be Michael's polar opposite.
