This morning was the medical exam. Pretty general stuff. It is part of the US side of the adoption. The doctor spoke to her and she nodded her head and raised her shirt. Ike, our guide, talks to her a lot and I've never noticed her reponding to him, so I asked the Dr if he spoke Manderin or Cantonese. He didn't understand the question but was trying to answer it. Ike came in and I explained my question to him. Both the Dr and Ike got a laugh out of it, as apparently she just doesn't want to respond to Ike.
She endured the exam without a fuss (Michael's didn't go nearly as well, three years ago.) At the end she had to have a TB test. Michael understood what was going on and what a good big brother he was. He watched her her get stuck with such a pained expression that you would have thought it was him feeling the pain.
Thanks to congressional action a few weeks ago, she did not have to get any vaccinations today. We can get those at home, as it should be. We will go back in a few days to have the TB test read.
Later today we apply for her passport. She is napping now and Michael's puppies are napping, so he tells us we must be quiet. Shhhh!
Does this room look familiar to any of you?
